Ozone Safety

Ozone is a lung irritant. That's why nobody stays inside during treatment, and why we measure before anyone goes back in.

Is ozone treatment safe? Ozone is harmful to breathe at high concentrations, so OxySweep only treats unoccupied, sealed spaces. After treatment, the space is ventilated and checked with an ozone monitor before anyone returns.

Ozone is a lung irritant. That's why nobody stays inside.

Ozone works because it's reactive, and that same quality means it needs careful handling. This is how we do it.

  • The space is emptyPeople, pets, and plants are out before we start, and stay out until we say so.
  • The space is closed and postedWe keep it sealed during treatment and put warning signs on every entrance.
  • We ventilate, then measureWe check ozone levels with a monitor before you return. We go by the reading, not the clock.
  • We plan around your belongingsOzone can dry out rubber and some plastics and can fade certain materials. Tell us what's in the space and we'll advise on moving or covering items.
  • We're insuredOxySweep carries general liability insurance. Ask us for proof.

What this treatment doesn't do

It doesn't promise a sterile space.Ozone and UV-C can reduce odors and some airborne germs. We don't guarantee disinfection results.
It doesn't remove mold or fix leaks. If a smell comes from moisture, we'll say so and point you to the right specialist.
It doesn't happen around people. We never treat a room while anyone is in it.
